GOM Training Expert Courses

GOM offers expert classroom courses targeted for mastering challenges in specific industries. Procedures, workflows, tips and tricks are combined with detailed technical background knowledge and extensive practical exercises with hardware and software.

The trainers of the expert courses are experts with vast theoretical knowledge and many years of experience in the respective fields. This combination ensures that you get professional answers also to questions beyond the content of the training.

Basic level and advanced level skills on operating the GOM systems and software are recommended for these training courses. Furthermore, watching the training webinars and videos on specific topics might help to master the training courses successfully.

Product Training for Experts

Measuring systems from GOM are used in stamping, bending, drawing, pressing, and forming process chains to guarantee consistent quality assurance: from determining the sheet metal properties, via accelerating tool try-out and first article inspection, up to series-accompanying production control and assembly analysis.

The two-day training course is specifically designed for users in the sheet metal industry. It deals with challenges to be mastered in that industry every day. By means of extensive hands-on exercises, the training course provides you with all necessary background information, procedures, workflows and tips and tricks to measure and inspect sheet metal components successfully. As a result, you will learn how to create comprehensive measurement and inspection plans for first article inspection and series inspection.

The following topics will be discussed:

  • Measuring and inspection workflow – step-by-step guide
  • Impact of fixtures on measuring procedures and results
  • How to design fixtures for measuring sheet metal parts with GOM
  • Creating automated measurement templates
  • Creating and adapting measurement plans
  • Gray value features
  • Hemmed edges
  • Trimming & spring
  • Design line
  • Burn-in for series measurement

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Automation VMR

Target group: Users who are experienced in automated acquisition using ATOS ScanBox and in evaluating in ATOS Professional

Certificate: Automated Sheet Metal Inspection

The training is especially designed for users of the ATOS ScanBox Series 8 and deals with a typical measuring procedure with a car body as an example. With the ATOS ScanBox Series 8 and robogrammetry, GOM offers an automated solution for the inspection of large parts and part assemblies. One big advantage of the ATOS ScanBox Series 8 is that it is set up in a short time. Robogrammetry ensures a process-reliable transformation of the measurements. It combines the robot position with special reference cubes and guarantees a stable process with high accuracy and high reproducibility.

During the training, the participants carry out a real measuring procedure as well as practical exercises. This way, they learn all necessary concepts and working methods when using the ATOS ScanBox Series 8. The training also includes placing magnetic reference cubes correctly on the measuring object. A special focus lies on the analysis of the transformation stability and the subsequent optimization by means of automatically and manually created simulated reference points. Furthermore, the participants create real measuring data of a part, analyze the results and then optimize the measurements.

Training content:

  • Manual and automatic creation of virtual reference points
  • Placing reference cubes on the measuring object
  • Creating a measuring program for the ATOS ScanBox Series 8
  • Real measurement with the ATOS ScanBox Series 8
  • Verification and optimization of transformation stability
  • Troubleshooting for robogrammetry

Duration: 2 days

Certificate: Scanning with robogrammetry in the ATOS ScanBox Series 8
