GOM’s portable photogrammetry system TRITOP supports production control and inspection of maintenance and repair performed on railroad cars. Unlike conventional tactile CMMs, TRITOP carries out easy and efficient measurements, with no need for complex and maintenance-intensive hardware. The TRITOP software automatically computes measuring data from the recorded high-resolution images of the components from small to very large size for further inspection and evaluation, for example, deviation calculations by comparing to the CAD data. The powerful TRITOP system enables a complete quality control. Using the TRITOP system, various measuring tasks can be carried out quickly and efficiently including the inspection of the body-in-white leveling to ground and wheel set, wall perpendicularity and dimensions and distortions of door and window openings. Typically, one person can inspect a rail coach with TRITOP and provide a complete inspection report in less than 2.5 hours.
