Workshops in the USA provide insight into optical metrology

07/2013Our partner Trilion organized two workshops in the USA at the end of June - cooperating with the University of Alabama in Huntsville and the University of Houston along with our partner Capture 3D.

A total of 90 people wanting to find out more about optical 3D metrology attended and were greatly impressed by the GOM technology they experienced in the presentations and live demonstrations.

Optical Metrology Workshop Huntsville

On June 20, 2013 Trilion joined forces with the University of Alabama in Huntsville to stage the first of two workshops. 35 people, mainly from the aviation and aerospace industries, attended and intensified their knowledge about optical metrology. Alongside contributions from NASA, Trilion and Novelis, the agenda included a presentation from GOM on optical 3D metrology for aircraft testing and quality control. It explained how the ATOS 3D scanner supplies precise measurement results for reverse engineering. In addition, it showed how precise measurement data is obtained in material testing with the ARAMIS system and in vibration measurements with the PONTOS system.

Optical Metrology Workshop Houston

A second workshop held on June 25, 2013 in Houston demonstrated how optical 3D metrology is used profitably in material and component testing as well as in quality controls for lean production and business optimization. The event was organized by Trilion in conjunction with Capture 3D and the University of Houston. 55 participants from various universities and the power, aviation and aerospace industries attended in order to learn more about the latest trends and developments in optical measurement technology. Alongside the many presentations, they were able to take a look for themselves at the different metrology systems. A discussion session then supplied the answers to any open questions.

We would like to thank all visitors to the workshops and helpers, and above all Trilion for holding two successful and informative workshops in conjunction with two distinguished U.S. universities.
