Industry is facing continuously growing requirements on sheet metal parts. The main focus is on visible surfaces, as they directly reflect the quality of a product. Especially during the manufacturing process of automotive hang-on parts, hardly detectable surface defects can result, for example, from necking, adhesive residues or worn tools.
Optical metrology allows a series-accompanying and reproducible evaluation of defects, so that subsequent corrective actions can be defined more purposefully. Due to the parametric computation, the objective results are made available in a shorter time than an auditor would require with the conventional method of the grind stone.
