Prediction of the product life of turbines
Checking the service life of gas and steam turbines is vital to ensure that components do not fail prematurely. The wear of turbine blades can thus be analyzed after several operating hour intervals. This enables well-founded statements to be made about the component lifespan. In production, GOM's non-contact measurement technology is the ideal solution for e.g. monitoring the uniform application of thermal barrier coatings.

Data-based efficiency analyses and simulations for gas and steam turbines
Real part geometries are best suited for efficiency analyses and efficiency optimization. The CFD analysis (Computational Fluid Dynamics) enables a reliable evaluation of factors such as turbulences, flow or resistance.
To increase the efficiency of turbines, measuring systems from GOM measure blade geometry, leading and trailing edges as well as the opening angles between the individual blades. Intelligent software solutions help to determine current efficiency levels based on wear and tear.
The finite element method improves geometry and construction in part design considerably. Precise 3D coordinate measuring data for real parts form a reliable basis for the comprehensive simulation of the behavior of parts and their capacity limits.
Reverse engineering and golden master
CAD data is subject to numerous modifications during the design process. All too often, there is no suitable CAD data of parts from an OEM or supplier. In this case, 3D digitizing using systems from GOM and surface reconstruction (reverse engineering) offer intelligent solutions for a reliable documentation. When it comes to making changes to individual parts or tools, the CAD data can be updated quickly and used, for example, as a reference for future incoming goods inspection. The precise 3D point clouds of ATOS help operators of gas and steam turbines create a golden master of supplied or self-produced turbine blades based on a comparison of different 3D models.
