Opel press shops use ATOS ScanBox 7260 from GOM, a new automated optical 3D coordinate measuring machine, for large components. Sheet metal parts of all Opel models will be checked within ramp-up and in the production. The GOM system was chosen especially because of its fast measuring times, simple usability and the option of central programming in the virtual measuring room.
Opel CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann initiates the recently developed automated 3D coordinate measuring machine, ATOS ScanBox 7260, in the press tool production (ptp) at Opel’s central workshop in Ruesselsheim. At the site of installation, ATOS ScanBox checks geometry and form of sheet metal parts up to the size of car side panel next to the production line.
The ultra-modern device was developed by GOM. Opel is the first OEM who uses this next generation of optical 3D coordinate measuring machine.
