The process of furniture design can be made much more efficient by use of optical scanning for determining the geometry of a structure, and of optical techniques for deformation measurement of materials and structures loaded in different ways. Optical scanning can substantially reduce the time elapsing between the approval of a prototype and the start of its production.
Multiple high speed ARAMIS sensors are used to measure the buckling and post-buckling behaviour of a thin walled CFRP cylinder at DLR (German Aerospace Center).
Due to its high sensitivity, ESPI is used to determine the development of the deformations in short intervals, during the welding process. The determination of the complete deformation and the deformation during the cooling-down period is measured with the grating method (ARAMIS).
